Kensora the company builds a product. But the evidence about whether mental-health technology is honest, safe, and fair is work a company cannot credibly grade itself on. The Institute is being formed to do that work in the open, and to keep its outputs public. Read more about the Institute →
- 1An open-source model. Methods and weights for a mental-health model, published openly, so researchers and clinicians can inspect them rather than take a vendor's word.
- 2Independent validation. Research on whether these tools do what they say, run by people who do not sell the product.
- 3Public safety evaluations. Open tests of how mental-health tools behave in hard moments, shared so the whole field can learn from them.
- 4Open crisis-resource data. Verified, openly maintained directories of support lines, free for anyone to use.
Any forward-looking research described here is in development: provisional, honest, and never a diagnosis.

Open Research Commons
An open-source mental-health model, independent clinical-validation research, and public safety-eval work. Outputs are genuine public goods: open weights, published methods, open tests.
Access & Resources Fund
Openly verified crisis-line and resource data, and wider access to mental-health resources for people who cannot pay.
Open Education
Open, plain-language public education about mental health and how mental-health technology actually works: what these tools can and cannot do.
Voices of Experience
Advisory and education work that centers people with lived experience of mental illness in how the research and tools get built.
Data Dignity
An oversight function that guards how any contributed data could ever be used, with the standard held higher than the law requires.

The point of a separate nonprofit is that its work does not depend on taking any company's word. The Open Research Commons publishes its methods, and governance and transparency describes how the Institute stays independent of Kensora the company, including an honest account of the relationship between the two.
